Hayloft is owned and run by Paul Bromley. Paul has been a Vet for over 38 years and has a passion for animal welfare and gold standard care of his patients and clients. His career has led him in many directions but now he strives to provide a personal and professional service for our clients and their much loved pets.   • Niall Hughes BVSc MRCVS

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Niall graduated from Liverpool Vet School in 2018. He loves surgery, with a particular interest in orthopaedics, and has completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. He lives in Doncaster with his lovely wife Holly and their whippet Rodney.

  • Kären Smith RVN

    Manager, Registered Veterinary Nurse, Companion Animal Behaviourist and Qualified Lecturer

    Kӓren grew up around a wide variety of animals and has been in the veterinary profession over 25 years. Having spent many years as Head Nurse in mixed practice, she spent several years lecturing in Animal Management and Veterinary Nursing. She has a specific interest in nutrition, and was previously Nutritional Advisor for a leading pet food manufacturer. She is also a qualified Companion Animal Behaviourist. Kӓren is mum to a large menagerie including horses, donkeys, wallabies, rhea, guinea pigs, geese, ducks, turkeys and chickens. She really loves that the mobile service makes a huge difference for both the pets in our care and their owners.

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Ash graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2018 and has since worked in clinics throughout Yorkshire, he also spent a year travelling and working in Australia, but thankfully he is planning on staying in the UK for the foreseeable!

    “I started at Hayloft as a locum vet in 2025 but was so impressed by the quality of care provided that I decided to stay full time.
    I enjoy all aspects of general practice but have a particular interest in imaging and hope to develop my knowledge and skills in this area further whilst at Hayloft.
    I have a small black cat called Pepper who is equal parts loving and feisty.”

  • Hannah Atkinson

    Nursing Assistant

    Hannah joined Hayloft in June 2022. She has worked in small animal practice for 5 years as a Nursing Assistant. Hannah lives on a farm and has multiple animals ncluding 2 horses, who she enjoys competing in her spare time. "I really enjoy working at Hayloft, helping animals and their owners with our veterinary home visits".

  • Sam Cross

    Nursing/Admin Assistant

    Hi I’m Sam,
    Sam graduated from university as an animal biologist. I have always had a huge passion for animals and currently spend my time looking after my range of rescued animals , including guinea pigs , rabbits , cats , dogs and 6 pet sheep.
    I am really enjoying being part of the lovely team at hayloft vets

    Registered Veterinary Nurse

    Sam qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2012. Her ‘spare time’ is spent with two children, two rabbits, two horses and two sprocker spaniels. Her husband works tirelessly to try prevent their house from turning into Noah’s arc! She enjoys meeting our lovely clients and getting to know their four legged friends.

  • Katharine Walsh

    Practice Receptionist & Administrator

    Katharine is our practice receptionist and administrator. She is the mother of 3 boys and owner of Cilla, a greyhound saluki cross, who after being found roaming the streets, now takes up all the room in the bed!  In her spare time she is usually watching her children play rugby and football or walking the Yorkshire Dales with her family. She has always had a love for animals and is excited to be working for Hayloft.

  • Ellie Taylor

    Nursing/Admin Assistant

    Ellie joined Hayloft in December 2025 and is really enjoying being part of such a lovely team. She has always loved animals and especially enjoys meeting all the different characters on home visits.

    At home, she has a Shiba Inu called Gavin and two ginger cats, Loki and Lupin, who she hand-reared from just a day old. Life is kept busy by her toddler, Vera, who already shares her love of animals, especially when it comes to enthusiastically investigating wagging tails.
